If you are a first time voter, would like to switch your registration to Maine, or need to update your registration in Maine (due to an address change/dorm change, or a name change), then please follow the instructions below.
IMPORTANT: In Maine, you cannot register to vote online, you must update your registration or switch your registration in person.
Register year-round at the Brunswick Town Clerk’s Office
Elections for Brunswick are supervised and run by the Town Clerk’s Office, which is located at 85 Union Street, Brunswick ME 04011 (next to Hannafords and the Amtrak Station). You can register to vote in person there Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM until 4:30 PM. Call 207-725-6658 with questions.
Register through Bowdoin Votes
Bowdoin Votes operates year round out of the McKeen Center, located in the Chapel on campus. We can register you to vote in Maine (or any state), Monday through Friday from 9AM-5PM.
During election season, look out for the Bowdoin Votes Mobile! The mobile and our wonderful team of volunteers who operate it can help you register both in Maine and in your home state. You can also follow our calendar for information about when we will be hosting voter registration drives and other events.
For students who live on-campus
You will need to register under the address of your dorm–do not put your SU Box number as your registration address! That is not an address and will not be accepted by the Town Clerk. Find your dorm address here, and make sure to correctly fill out your registration card.
For students who live off-campus
The registration process for students who live off-campus is slightly different then for those who live on-campus. Off-campus students need to provide either (a) proof of residence in the town of Brunswick, or (b) a sworn affidavit in order to document residence in our town.
(a) Bring a copy of a utility bill, lease or a similar official document that proves residency in Brunswick with you to register with either the Town Clerk’s office or Bowdoin Votes.
(b) Fill out this sworn affidavit and get it signed by a town registrar (can be found at the Town Clerk’s office, or at the McKeen Center).
