April 13, 2017: BWICS hosted a Computer Science Open House to mentor students curious about taking computer science through the registration process.

Thursday, October 5, 2016 @ 4pm: Bowdoin Trustee Dave Brown has offered to spend an hour meeting with BWICS to answer questions and provide career advice.

October 30, 2015: We had the incredible privilege to meet and talk to Dr Jeanette Wing, currently VP at Microsoft Research, who gave the keynote for Sarah and James Bowdoin Day, 2015.  The topic was, what else but computational thinking.

Later,  at the ceremony, BWICS shared many of the Sarah and James Bowdoin DAY awards.

Maddie, Grace, and Roya (of the Physics department) organize chats for students, faculty, and staff in Computer Science, Math, and Physics about the experience of women at Bowdoin in these departments.

February 6, 2015: Coffee with Jill Schweitzer, co-founder of Blaze

An alumna of Bowdoin, Jill Schweitzer, and her co-founder of the company Blaze has coffee  with the group to answer questions about entrepreneurship and receive feed back about her product, which assists in the job search for liberal arts college students specifically.

February 6, 2015 – February 8, 2015: CBB Hacks (organized by Ruben Martinez)

Ruben Martinez organizes and hosts the first ever Colby-Bowdoin-Bates Hackathon in the David Saul Smith Union.

December 5, 2014: Women & *Trans in STEM Luncheon (organized by Jack Gieseking)

Professor Gieseking organizes a lunch conversation with students and professors about Women & *Trans in STEM as a whole.

December 3, 2014: BWICS End-Of-Semester Pizza Party

BWICS holds a pizza party for the group to talk about how the first semester went and what the group can do better going forward.

December 21, 2014 – January 20, 2015: Technical Interview Skype Sessions

BWICS organized Professor Toma and Professor Irfan to offer an algorithms crash course and technical interview introduction to the group. Following this session through the end of the semester, small groups met and practiced technical interview questions on computers or the white board in pairs. During winter break, members had the option of setting up mock Skype interviews with Bowdoin alums at companies such as Google and Disney.
