Come to Lancaster Lounge (Moulton Union) on Wednesday, April 6 at 7:30 PM for “the Great Debate” on the relative merits of two of the finest Jewish culinary delights: the latke and hamentash. Professors David Hecht (History) and Allen Wells (History) will be debating on behalf of these respective foods. Professor Marilyn Reizbaum (English) will moderate.

Past participants in the Great Debate include Professor Alan Dershowitz of Harvard and Professors Milton Friedman and Allan Bloom of UChicago. This is the second time the state of Maine has hosted this revered academic tradition which was started in the 1940s at UChicago. Two years ago, Professors Larry Simon and Marilyn Reizbaum went head to head. Who will take the prize this time?
