Bowdoin Votes

Accessibility

In 2002, the Help America Vote Act created mandatory minimum standards of election administration that states have to follow. Many of these standards involve making the voting process more accessible.

All voters with a disability have the right to:

  • Vote privately and independently
  • Have an accessible polling place with voting machines for voters with disabilities

Where you may either:

  1. Seek help from poll workers trained to use the accessible voting machine, or
  2. Bring someone to help you vote

You can also ask local election officials about what other options are available.

For information about voting in Brunswick, see Accessible Voting in Maine. For more information about federal regulations, go to the U.S. Election Assistance Commission or usa.gov/voting-laws.

If you have accessibility questions or concerns, please contact Bowdoin Votes.
