{"id":93,"date":"2017-08-30T08:27:06","date_gmt":"2017-08-30T13:27:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/students.bowdoin.edu\/cycling-club\/?p=93"},"modified":"2017-08-30T08:27:06","modified_gmt":"2017-08-30T13:27:06","slug":"army-spring-classic-first-race-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/students.bowdoin.edu\/cycling-club\/army-spring-classic-first-race-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Army Spring Classic: first race of the season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\tAfter a difficult start to the season, with our April 1-2 race cancelled due to a snow storm, the Cycling Team had a great first race the weekend of April 15-16. We drove to West Point, NY for the Army Spring Classic, hosted by USMA. Saturday was the road race, with great weather and a beautiful course including a long climb, views of mountains and lakes, and several roundabouts. Alexander Truitt \u201919 made an exciting first place finish in Men\u2019s D in a 28 mile race, earning major points for the team, while Boyang Zhang \u201917, also in Men\u2019s D, finished strong in 58<sup>th<\/sup>. Margaret Conley \u201918 raced in Women\u2019s C and placed 9<sup>th<\/sup> in a 4\u00a0\u00a0 2 mile race.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, we raced in a technical but fun criterium at Shea Stadium on the USMA campus, with great views of the Hudson River. Adding to the excitement were a few trains passing by on tracks that ran right alongside the course. In Men\u2019s D, Alexander again placed 1<sup>st<\/sup> after a finish-line sprint, and also earned points in a prime lap, while Boyang finished 32<sup>nd<\/sup>. Margaret came in 9<sup>th<\/sup> in the Women\u2019s C race.
