Our online High Holidays services will be held in partnership with Beth Israel Congregation in Bath and co-led by Rabbi Lisa Vinikoor, our High Holiday student-rabbi Andrew Mandel, Bowdoin students, faculty, staff and members of Beth Israel Congregation. In addition, we are thrilled to welcome Sam Kyzivat, Bowdoin \u201818, as our musical accompanist.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rosh Hashanah<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Friday, September 18, 2020<br \/>\n5:30pmEST Erev Rosh Hashanah Seder<br \/>\n(see list below of suggested Seder items)<\/p>\n<p>Saturday, September 19, 2020,<br \/>\n11amEST Rosh Hashanah Morning Service<\/p>\n<p><strong>Yom Kippur<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sunday, September 27, 2020<br \/>\n8pmEST Kol Nidre Service<\/p>\n<p>Monday, September 28, 2020,<br \/>\n11amEST Yom Kippur Morning Service followed by Yizkor<br \/>\n6pmEST Afternoon Service and Neilah<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zoom link for All High Holiday Events<\/strong><br \/>\nBowdoin students\/faculty\/staff should check the email digest for this information.<br \/>\nCommunity members may contact David Israel for the link &#8211; disrael@bowdoin.edu<\/p>\n<p>~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~<\/p>\n<p>Gather these items for the <strong>Erev Rosh Hashanah Seder, September 18, 5:30pm<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Candles for Shabbat and Holiday candle lighting<\/li>\n<li>A food item that you haven\u2019t eaten yet this year, your choice!<\/li>\n<li>Dates<\/li>\n<li>Pomegranate<\/li>\n<li>Pumpkin\/Gourd\/Winter squash<\/li>\n<li>Leeks or scallions<\/li>\n<li>Fish head (see notes below)<\/li>\n<li>A food item that is round, your choice!<\/li>\n<li>Apples and honey<\/li>\n<li>Grape juice or wine<\/li>\n<li>Challah\u00a0 (traditionally a round shaped challah)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here are a few ideas to help with your preparation:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>We will eat the items listed above (for the most part). Serve them plain\/raw or consider making a recipe. For example- pumpkin soup, blue cheese stuffed dates, scallion pancakes- yum! Let your imagination and appetite soar!<\/li>\n<li>If you can\u2019t find an item from the list, don\u2019t worry. Feel free to come up with creative alternatives.
