Journalism is not a crime.
Evan Gershkovich, a 31-year-old Wall Street Journal reporter and former WBOR DJ, was arrested on March 30th, 2023 on patently false espionage charges while on a reporting trip to Yekaterinburg, a city around 800 miles east of Moscow, Russia. His arrest has been widely condemned by the Biden administration, press-freedom groups and news organizations.
The allegations against Evan are indisputably absurd. He is a dedicated, accredited reporter who returned to Russia to cover the aftermath of Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, a moment of which he was one of our finest chroniclers. Journalism is not a crime. The Russian government must release Evan immediately.

Tonight, April 8th, 2023, Bowdoin’s very own artist Matt LaJoie will perform live on air.
Matt is a Circulation Assistant at the Bowdoin Library and a longtime musician who has published an impressive discography in the past decade, one album of which, Everlasting Spring, has been reviewed by Pitchfork Magazine. It has been described as “subtly progressive […] celestial without being sleepy, and rarely stays still. The music feels like an afternoon by a slow-moving creek, surface reflections peacefully changing with the light.”
His music spans many genres: Ambient, Krautrock, American Primitivism, Free Folk, New Age, and more. You do not want to miss this one.Listen at 91.1 FM on the dial and wbor.org.
