With Love,

BOKANS 2022-23

Our new BOKA babies have been with us for just over a week, and we’re happy to report that they’re fitting in just like family!
We are excited to bring Gillian ’21, Ahjani ’21, Papa ’20 and Riley ’20 into the world of a cappella at Bowdoin!

Congratulations to…

Ahem, conGRADUATIONs to our seniors! We will miss you all very very much.
Also a congratulations to Amber for being selected as next year’s A Cappella Council President!
Keep your eyes peeled for video recordings and official tracks coming out soon!

Senior Concert, Recording & Reunion

Three things to address in this catch-up post:
1.) BOKA’s senior concert, where we showcase our graduating seniors through a self-chosen solo, will be held in Bowdoin’s Chapel on Saturday before Spring Gala at 7pm. Several events are happening that evening, but you will be able to make it to all of them, including the Spring Gala! Please come to help us celebrate our seniors: Kyra, Caroline and Liam.

2.) Time has come again to record (last time was Fall and Spring 2014-15)! Recording will take place over May 11 and 12, so keep your eyes out for additions to the Soundcloud.

3.) BOKA is swiftly approaching its 25th anniversary. Current BOKA members are working with Alumni Relations to set up an event where alumni can come back and celebrate the BOKA family. If you would like to connect with other BOKA alumni, please find the facebook page to keep up-to-date with the reunion planning. As of now, it will be held during Homecoming in 2020 (sometime early October).  More information is to come.
Any questions or concerns can be directed to Amber Barksdale at abarksda@bowdoin.edu!

New Basses!

On January 30, 2017, we welcomed two new members to BOKA, Chris Brown ’18 and Jackson Harrower ’20! Thank you to all those who auditioned, it was a difficult choice, and we truly appreciate you coming out to sing for us.

Begin Again!

It’s been a hot second since we have posted, but school has started up again and we have officially gained four new BOKA babes this year!

Marianne, Camila, Zakir and Emma, CONGRATULATIONS on getting into BOKA! We are so happy you have joined our singing family and we hope that you are too!

The end, the end, the end, that’s all…

Time continues to slip through our fingers faster than we would like. Last night was the final all-acappella show, with a great turnout and us bringing back our Canadian tuxedos.  We began (what we hope to become a tradition) with some song improv, followed by our classic “Siya Humba”.
We sang Pillowtalk (Zayn) and Swimming (Florence + the Machine).
We had a great time.

Some closing remarks for the year:
– Thank you thank you THANK YOU to all the audience members at every concert! We get our energy from you.
– Thank you to all the venues that asked us to sing for them (Relay for Life, Scholarship Luncheon, WRC, Admissions and more!)
– Next year will be crazy as all of our juniors are going abroad at some point! Keeping up-to-date with BOKA will be tough, but we’ll try our best.
– Needless to say, we will miss our seniors like mad. They have made serious impact in the group and it will be impossible to replace them next year.
– Following that… we are so excited to hear some fresh pipes in the fall! Keep eyes peeled for posters for the recruitment concert and auditions in September.

Senior Concert

Last Sunday was our Senior Concert. All the seniors got to sing their chosen solos, and we said some words about them before they sang to show them how much we appreciate and how we will miss them.  Also, all the members of BOKA who are currently on hiatus came to watch!
We love our BOKA family. <3
