11/6/2024 Notes General Assembly

COMMITTEE UPDATES:

  • Jonathan [Academic Affairs]: Waiting to meet with Dallas for Workday. There is an advertising component to be working on.
  • Harper [Student Activities]: Meeting with Nate and Silvia to plan winter sporting events.
  • Max [SAFC]: Had a meeting to overview guideline reviews and will probably present
  • Angelica [Facilities and Sustainability]: Set a meeting time to meet with Peter Bae, and look into sunset lamps to replace sun lamps, as these work better.
    • Lucia: Used to be an advisor committee, and told them to find people with specific dietary needs—an opportunity to talk directly with Dining.
    • Eisa: I would also reach out to Oliver Goodrich about this, as he can be a very helpful resource.
  • Aiman [D&I]: Hold a tabling event in Smith Union and have a drop-in box where students can leave any ideas they would like D&I to take on.
  • Vincent [SOOC]: SOOC talked about training things for clubs, and will potentially table as well. Sarah Brinkhorst to get SOOC members involved in workshop trainings for club leaders.

PROPOSALS:

[Corrected Break Funding]

[Amount: $1,000]

  • Elliot: Had a miscommunication on the price for buses, where a lot of the terms and requirements got confusing. Turns out it is actually $2,200 per ride, since we approved $1200 last week, we would need to approve an extra $1000 to cover this.

[ Motion to Propose (Elliott), Second (Max) ]

[ Motion to Vote (Eisa) ]

[25, yes. 1, no.]

[PROPOSAL PASSES]

[Van Transportation Funding]

[Amount: $750]

  • Angelica: Considering costs for getting to Portland for students, coordinated with different departments at Bowdoin to be able to get vans to bring groups of students to Portland. Would take place 11/22 at 6:00AM, 10:00AM, 3:00PM and 11/23 at 6:00AM, 10:00AM, and 1:00PM. This proposal would go toward a total of $750 for van reservation ($30) costs and wages ($25/hr). If for any reason this total estimate is an overestimate, the surplus money passed would not be taken form bucket.
  • Harper: How many students fill fit into the van?
    • Elliott: 10 people.
  • Sadie: Will the sign-ups be from CampusGroups?
    • Eisa: Yes.
  • Elliott: We are also hoping to really get everyone from the General Assembly involved. Have some BSG people supervising the departures of vans and buses and make sure everything is running smoothly.
    • Eisa: I agree, it would be great to have a lot of more new faces involved. We would love for you guys to talk to them and be able to get feedback from them.

[Motion to Vote (Eisa), Second (Elliott)]

[26 yes]

[PROPOSAL PASSES]

[Diversity and Inclusion Committee Tabling Proposal]

[Amount: $60]

  • Sadie: The D&I committee wants to get more feedback from the student body. Tabling would be the best way to do that, and having an anonymous feedback box will help us be able to directly connect with the student body. So, the D&I Committee would like to approve $60 on 150 Munchkins.

[Motion to Vote (Eisa), Second (Elliott)

[Yes, 23 No, 2]]
