PUBLIC COMMENT:
Eisa: In the last week, white supremacist group has been more active. Based in New Hampshire and have been putting flyers around Maine. Have representatives from CML and BSU here tonight. Looking for ways to respond that supports the community but doesn’t fuel this group; many of them operate on fear.
Court: Acting president of BSU. Thank you to Eisa and BSG for making us feel heard. Secondly, we met with Benje and Randy. Randy said we have him in our corner. Trying to figure out the best way to move forward from this.
Ephraim: Leader in CML. Concerned because there is a Black Student Summit at Bates this weekend, based in Lewiston, which has been a group. Security has spoken with Bates PD to ensure the safety of students.
COMMITTEE UPDATES:
Vincent [SOOC]: Meeting on Friday.
Max [SAFC]: No updates.
Harper [Student Affairs]: Finalizing details for Cold at Coe this Saturday, 4-6pm.
Jonathan [Academic Affairs]: Working on Sunday and will send it out to BSG to confirm it works and get any feedback before sending it out to public.
Nyla: [D&I]: Aware of recent events and working on how to respond to them.
Angelica [Facilities and Sustainability]: Meeting yesterday. Want to allow more transparency with dining, especially in regards to Polar Points. Looking for Kosher or vegan dining representative. Working on Earth Day Involvement. Had a potting event last year. Working with Sustainability into making transportation options more accessible and transparent to students.
Eisa: Exec board has decided to do shuttle service again for spring break. Was a success. Hoping to offer it to more students. Will only be doing service to airport due to logistical difficulties with the return. Will be transparent with Bowdoin Public on why we are doing this and why we are doing it for spring break and not summer break.
