Policies

Bowdoin’s 3D printers are available to students for exploration of curricular and extracurricular model making.  They are here for your education and enjoyment.

Clean up after you are done working (“Leave No Trace”).

Turn off all printers that are not being used.

Let the appropriate person/people know if there is a problem with one of the printers – don’t try to fix something that you don’t know how to fix.

The 3D printer may be used for lawful purposes only. You are not permitted to use the printer to create objects that are:

  • Prohibited by any other College policy, local, state or federal law.
  • In violation of another’s intellectual property rights; for example, materials that are subject to copyright, patent or trademark protection.
  • Unsafe, harmful, dangerous or that may pose a threat to the well-being of others; for example, guns knives or other possibly lethal weapons.
  • Obscene or otherwise inappropriate items for the environment of our community – you know what this means.
