Thanksgiving van update:

  • 120 responses
  • Good sense of time
  • Will be running shuttles on Friday and on Saturday
  • Think could be worth it to get a charter bus that could fit around 50 people
    • Would leave at 2pm

 

Proposal:

  • $1825 from $7500 proposal funding budget towards charter bus and $30 rental for Bowdoin van
  • Vote passes

 

Committee updates:

 

Facilities & Sustainability

  • Dining advisory meeting; discusses sleeves for cups; looking for people to join
  • Sasha met with security; enthusiastic about engaging with students/student groups
  • Reminder to fill out library of things form

 

Student Affairs

  • Sleep initiative. Talking with res life office about partnering
  • Coming up with fun winter program
  • Discussion of hosting event in Morrell Lounge
  • Event at the beach?

 

Diversity & Inclusion

  • Trying to expand host family programming
  • Disabled Students Association Disco in the spring – more sensory friendly party

 

Academic Affairs

  • Working on syllabus initiative; regrouping to make a change; even if professors aren’t willing to put an entire syllabus out there, might be willing to put more information

 

TFC

  • Working with data the TFC has to disseminate this information to BSG and students in an effort to be more transparent

 

TCC

  • Chartered two new clubs
  • Working on post-event evaluation forms for clubs to give feedback

 

Spending discussion:

  • Goals of this discussion/why we’re having it
    • Tuition is really high here, even if you’re on aid
    • To run a school is expensive and it has only gotten more expensive
    • Want to see if there are things students feel aren’t being utilized; food being wasted; services offered at times students can’t make it; etc. Not to say these things aren’t worth it, but looking at a starting point
    • Budgets are determined a year in advance
    • Want to involve ourselves into the conversation
    • This meeting resulting in a document that will be used to continue meeting with people involved and bringing to Matt Orlando
  • Motion to vote to enter executive session
    • ⅔ majority: enters executive session

 

Committee time
