The Bowdoin College Equestrian Team recently relocated to Sassy Strides Equestrian in Lisbon, Maine. Sassy Strides Equestrian, owned by Renae Kachnovich, is a new, state-of-the-art equestrian facility located a 20-minute drive from campus. Bowdoin riders enjoy access to one of the nicest facilities in all of New England, including:
- Two outdoor arenas, 150′ x 300′ and 85′ x 175′, with GGT footing and a watering system for dust control
- A climate-controlled 105′ x 200′ indoor arena with GGT footing to keep you riding even on the coldest Maine winter days
- Full sets of hunter and jumper fences
- Trail access
- 16 12′ x 12′ ComfortStall matted stalls
- Two wash stalls with hot and cold water
- A rider’s lounge with a kitchenette and wifi
- Large tack rooms
- Gym
- Restroom
- Heated viewing room of the indoor arena
- Group and individual turn-outs
- Year-round in-house shows, hosted by the New England Jumper’s Association (NEJA)

Bowdoin students are more than welcome to bring their horses to school. Please go to the Sassy Strides website for boarding and contact information. Please reach out as soon as possible to reserve a stall as spots do not open up frequently.
