We couldn’t end the year without expressing our gratitude and appreciation of Sherrie Bergman, who this year is retiring. An advisor to Hillel for over 12 years now, Sherrie has had a wonderful influence on Hillel and has been incredibly important to Hillel’s development, maintenance, and growth. Without a doubt, Hillel would not be where it is today without her expertise, perspective, an advice on many matters. For this, Bowdoin Hillel is greatly indebted to Sherrie Bergman, and we would like to convey our deepest thanks for her many years of commitment and service to the Jewish community here at Bowdoin.
To learn more about Sherrie Bergman, we invite you to read the following article in the Bowdoin Daily Sun: http://www.bowdoindailysun.com/bowdoin-college-librarian-sherrie-bergman-to-receive-2012-alumni-award-for-faculty-and-staff/

On the evening of Tuesday, February 21st, Bowdoin’s Jewish community was lucky enough to experience a brief presentation by Dr. Harris Gleckman, the Director of the Documenting Maine Jewry Project. Having spent a number of years studying Maine’s unique Jewish history, Dr. Gleckman spoke specifically about the Summit Springs Hotel, a Jewish resort alternative to the Poland Springs Hotel, as well as the region’s larger Jewish history. An enthusiastic Q&A session with students, faculty, and members of the greater community followed. Many thanks again to Dr. Gleckman for presenting!
